Tensions between Iran and the United States have entered a new phase as official Tehran has set six primary conditions for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran, has demanded that the United States completely cease military operations against Iran and its allies in Lebanon, Palestine, Yemen, and Iraq.
Reports indicate that Iran has also cited the payment of war reparations as a key condition. Tehran has stated that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed to maritime traffic until these demands are met.
US President Donald Trump stated that negotiations with Iran are continuing within a limited framework. In comments to Axios, President Trump noted that Iran's economic situation, particularly high inflation and financial shortages, is exerting significant pressure on the country.
Meanwhile, concerns over depleting missile stockpiles amid the ongoing military standoff have prompted the US to implement new measures to accelerate defense industrial production. Deputy Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg has given defense contractors a three-week deadline to increase production capacity and shorten supply timelines. According to a document obtained by The Washington Post, Feinberg emphasized that long-term development processes are no longer acceptable and that production schedules must be expedited immediately.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global energy supplies, with a significant portion of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas (LNG) passing through the narrow waterway daily. Any prolonged closure of this strategic passage poses substantial risks to global energy markets and international maritime security.
