Iranian officials have announced that new decisions regarding the Strait of Hormuz will be implemented, with an agreement with Oman expected to be signed in the coming days.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the agreement provides for the creation of a new corridor at the entrance and exit of the Strait of Hormuz, which will be under Iranian control.
An Iranian official named Rizai stated that a restricted zone would be declared around the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, this area will encompass the region where the US has imposed a naval blockade, extending to the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf. Rizai warned that any vessel entering the newly declared zone without authorization would be immediately placed on a "blacklist."
The Iranian official also noted that his country would significantly strengthen security measures in the Strait of Hormuz. He suggested that the strict measures to be implemented could be more effective than direct missile strikes. "We will fulfill our commitment to keep the Strait of Hormuz open only if there is no attack or provocation by the US," Rizai stated.
Addressing the rising tensions between the US and Iran, Rizai claimed that an anti-ship missile was tested over a US warship 48 hours ago. He further alleged that countries mediating between Tehran and Washington have not been effective in implementing the memorandum of understanding signed between the two states. According to the report, Iran continues to export oil and is receiving payments for the oil sold without issues.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, serving as a vital artery for global energy supplies. Approximately one-fifth of the world's oil consumption passes through this narrow waterway, making it a focal point for geopolitical tensions. The ongoing friction between Iran and the United States frequently centers on this region, with both nations maintaining a significant military presence to protect their respective strategic interests.
