İran parlamenti: Hörmüz boğazı bağlana bilər

The Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Hamidreza Haji-Babai, has announced that lawmakers are considering a plan to regulate the movement of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Haji-Babai disclosed this information during a recent address.

According to the official, the parliament intends to adopt a "strong resolution" regarding the matter. However, he did not provide specific details on the provisions of the plan or the measures being considered. The Deputy Speaker noted that the initiative is multifaceted and covers various strategic directions.

Haji-Babai further emphasized that Tehran has issued stern warnings to the United States and Israel. He stated that if attacks on Lebanon are not halted, Iran will take retaliatory measures, which could include the potential closure of the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical maritime chokepoint, serving as the primary route for a significant portion of the world's oil supply. Any disruption to traffic in this waterway or the Bab al-Mandab Strait poses substantial risks to global energy security and international maritime trade. These statements from the Iranian official come at a time of heightened regional instability, with international observers closely monitoring the potential impact of such measures on global supply chains.
