The Iranian authorities have not closed the Strait of Hormuz and continue to interact with vessels passing through the strategic waterway.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing information released by the Telegram channel of Iran's state television, that official statements have been issued to clarify the current status of the maritime route.
Qayumars Heydari, the deputy commander of the central headquarters of the Khatam al-Anbiya military command, addressed the rumors regarding the potential blockade. "We have not closed the Strait of Hormuz, and we are interacting with ships passing through it in accordance with international protocols," Heydari stated.
The Strait of Hormuz is a vital maritime artery connecting the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. It serves as the primary transit point for approximately 20% of the world's total consumption of oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) exported from Persian Gulf countries and Iran. Given its strategic importance, any disruption to traffic in the strait poses significant risks to global energy security and international trade stability.
