Water currently accumulated in reservoirs will ensure that Azerbaijan does not face water shortages for agriculture this year, President Ilham Aliyev said.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state made the remarks during a meeting dedicated to agricultural issues.
President Ilham Aliyev noted that he does not remember such heavy rainfall in Baku in May. "Probably older people do not remember it either. Unfortunately, this sometimes causes complications. But on the other hand, it greatly increases our water resources, and the water accumulated in the reservoirs today will allow us to avoid water problems for agriculture this year," the president said.
In recent years, Azerbaijan has prioritized the modernization of its irrigation systems and the construction of new reservoirs to mitigate the impacts of global climate change. These infrastructure projects aim to secure sustainable water supplies, boost agricultural productivity, and strengthen the country's overall food security.
