The decisive role of the Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the history of Azerbaijan will never be erased from memory, President Ilham Aliyev stated during a meeting with residents in Zangilan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the head of state emphasized that the current development and sovereignty of the nation are the results of the strategic path established by the national leader. “By continuing his policy, look, today we are here, in Zangilan. We drove the enemy out of our lands and restored our territorial integrity. Prior to that, we built a strong economy and a powerful army, strengthened patriotic sentiments in society, and effectively brought Azerbaijan out of international isolation,” President Ilham Aliyev said.
Zangilan, located in the East Zangezur economic region, was liberated from Armenian occupation during the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020. Since the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, the government has implemented the "Great Return" program, focusing on the rapid reconstruction of infrastructure and the establishment of "smart villages" to facilitate the permanent settlement of former internally displaced persons in their ancestral lands.
