Azerbaijan is actively working with Armenia to increase the volume of mutual trade, President Ilham Aliyev stated.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev made these remarks while addressing the "SCO Plus" meeting.
"We are working on increasing the volume of mutual trade with Armenia, expanding its nomenclature, and establishing new land transport communications," President Ilham Aliyev said.
The President noted that Azerbaijan is already supplying oil products to Armenia and facilitating the transit of goods from third countries. He emphasized that both nations have paraffed the text of a peace agreement, effectively bringing an end to a conflict that persisted for over three decades.
"With this, the South Caucasus region, which has been a zone of multi-year conflicts, is transforming into a zone of peace. The four resolutions adopted by the UN Security Council in 1993 were implemented three years ago, after 30 years," the head of state added.
The South Caucasus has historically been a region of geopolitical significance, often characterized by complex territorial disputes. The normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan is widely viewed by international observers as a critical step toward regional stability, economic integration, and the unlocking of transport corridors that could connect the Caspian and Black Sea basins.
