Water police conduct anti-drug operation in Hovsan

Officers from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) Water Transport Police Department have conducted a specialized operation targeting the illegal drug trade.

This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the ministry.

According to the report, the department received intelligence regarding the sale of narcotics in the area known as Gum Island, located in the Hovsan settlement of the Surakhani district. As a result of the operation, Vugar Tahirov, a previously convicted individual suspected of committing the offense, was detained. A significant quantity of marijuana was seized from the suspect.

An investigation into the case is currently underway at the Water Transport Police Department.

It should be noted that the water police maintain continuous surveillance along the coastline of the Caspian Sea and other service areas to prevent illegal activities. Department officers also regularly combat individuals involved in the theft and illegal sale of underwater pipelines and various cables laid along the Caspian seabed. Citizens are urged to report any observed violations in the Caspian Sea or other water basins by contacting the Water Transport Police Department at 012-433-38-12 or 012-433-38-02.
