Any agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz must take into account the positions of all relevant parties and be supported by international guarantees, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari stated.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, his remarks were cited by Al Jazeera. The diplomat noted that following the conflict, no agreement concerning the Strait of Hormuz can exclude any regional party, emphasizing that a broad consensus must be reached to ensure stability in the strategic waterway.
Al-Ansari further stressed that there must be a mutual understanding among the states utilizing the strait, asserting that no single party has the right to impose its conditions on others. He highlighted that the security of maritime navigation in the region remains a priority that requires collective diplomatic efforts rather than unilateral actions.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most vital oil transit chokepoints, linking Middle East crude producers to key markets across the globe. Located between Oman and Iran, the waterway sees the passage of approximately one-fifth of the world's total oil consumption daily. Given its strategic importance, the strait has frequently been a focal point of regional geopolitical tensions, making international cooperation essential for maintaining the flow of global energy supplies.
