The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has become a central condition for transforming the preliminary agreement between the United States and Iran into a comprehensive, full-scale treaty.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from The Wall Street Journal, US President Donald Trump has emphasized that the Strait of Hormuz must be reopened for international shipping following the signing of the agreement, which is scheduled for June 19.

The Strait of Hormuz is widely considered one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints. Located between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, it serves as the primary transit route for a significant portion of the world's seaborne oil exports. Analysts note that the restoration of unhindered transport through this vital waterway could significantly stabilize global energy supplies and alleviate pressure on the international economy.

Furthermore, reports indicate that the lifting of the US naval blockade against Iran, alongside addressing the regional complexities surrounding Israel—which have previously complicated diplomatic processes—will serve as essential prerequisites for the further development and implementation of the broader agreement.
