Hikmət Hacıyev: Özbəkistan və Azərbaycan münasibətləri yeni bir mərhələyə qədəm qoyub

Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan have reached the level of a strategic alliance, marking a significant milestone in diplomatic cooperation between the two nations.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Hikmat Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, made these remarks while commenting on the "Treaty on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan."

According to Hajiyev, bilateral relations have evolved significantly since 2020, following increased engagement between the two heads of state. "Since that period, relations between the two states have advanced from strategic partnership to the level of an alliance. Now, they will carry the character of eternal friendship. This is a first in Azerbaijan's diplomatic experience, and we are taking such a step with Uzbekistan," Hajiyev stated. He emphasized that the historical literary and cultural bonds, exemplified by the works of Alisher Navoi and other Uzbek writers, have now been cemented in the political sphere.

Hajiyev further noted that this visit represents a crucial chapter in the brotherhood between the two nations. "As brotherly peoples, our relations today, as a result of the efforts of our heads of state, carry the character of an alliance, and Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan relations are rising to a new stage beyond alliance—to the level of eternal friendship," he added. He also expressed gratitude for the hospitality shown by Uzbekistan and highlighted a recent interview given by President Ilham Aliyev to the Uzbek media, where the President expressed his deep appreciation for the warm reception always received in Uzbekistan.

The deepening of ties between Baku and Tashkent is part of a broader trend of strengthening cooperation among Turkic-speaking states. Both nations have been actively involved in the Organization of Turkic States, focusing on expanding economic, cultural, and political integration across the region.
