Heavy rain and strong winds recorded in Azerbaijan's regions

Weather conditions in Azerbaijan remained largely dry, though intermittent lightning and rainfall were observed in several mountainous and foothill regions during the evening and overnight hours.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this update was provided by the National Hydrometeorological Service based on data recorded as of 9:00 AM on July 17.

Precipitation levels were measured at 11 mm in Ganja; 4 mm in Shamkir, Saribash (Gakh), Balakan, and Oghuz; 2 mm in Shaki; and 1 mm in Zagatala, Shahdag, Naftalan, Goygol, Tartar, Kalbajar, Lachin, Qubadli, and Shusha.

On July 16, strong north-westerly winds were reported in various locations. Maximum wind speeds reached 21 m/s in Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and Mingachevir, while Ganja recorded 20 m/s and Julfa reached 19 m/s.

The National Hydrometeorological Service, which operates under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan, regularly monitors these meteorological shifts to ensure public safety and provide timely warnings regarding severe weather events, which are common in the country's diverse climate zones during the summer season.
