Azerbaijan's Ministry of Emergency Situations (FHN) has issued a renewed appeal to the public regarding the ongoing unstable weather conditions affecting the country. The ministry warned that the current rainy weather is expected to persist over the coming days, potentially leading to localized flooding and short-term flash floods in several mountain rivers.
According to a statement provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the FHN press service, intensive precipitation has already been observed in various regions. To ensure public safety, the ministry urges citizens to stay away from areas prone to flooding and to immediately seek higher ground if faced with rising water levels. Officials emphasized that the instructions and recommendations of rescue teams must be followed without exception.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations plays a critical role in Azerbaijan's civil defense and disaster management infrastructure, responsible for protecting the population from natural and man-made disasters. In light of the seasonal increase in precipitation, the ministry frequently monitors river levels and mountainous terrain to mitigate the risks of landslides and floods. Residents are reminded that negligence regarding safety rules poses a direct threat to life. In case of any emergency, citizens are advised to contact the "112" hotline immediately.
