Europe will eventually need to engage in negotiations with Russia regarding the continent's security architecture once the Russia-Ukraine conflict concludes, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing foreign media outlets, the French minister emphasized that such discussions would be necessary to ensure long-term stability. "When the time comes, after Russia has defined new directions for itself and at a stage where we have become stronger, we will clearly have to conduct discussions with Russia on the issue of European security architecture," Barrot noted.
The statement follows earlier remarks from Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who indicated that Moscow has taken note of signals from Italy, France, and Germany regarding the necessity of dialogue with Russia. Peskov characterized these signals as a positive shift in the stance of Western nations. The ongoing debate over European security remains a critical focal point for international diplomacy, as leaders seek to establish a framework that prevents future escalations while maintaining the territorial integrity and sovereignty of European nations.
