Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has met with the speakers of parliaments participating in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). The Speaker of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan, Sahiba Gafarova, attended the meeting among other high-level delegates.
The Operative Information Center-OMM was informed of the meeting by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly). During the session, President Erdogan welcomed the parliamentary heads and emphasized the significance of the event and the relevance of the topics under discussion. He praised the mission of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, expressing confidence that the 152nd Assembly would contribute to laying the foundations for a fairer and safer world, accompanied by peace and stability within the framework of parliamentary diplomacy.
President Erdogan further stressed that strengthening cooperation between parliaments plays a vital role in addressing global challenges, noting the necessity of developing dialogue and mutual understanding. The Inter-Parliamentary Union, established in 1889, serves as a global organization for national parliaments, facilitating political coordination and promoting democratic governance and international peace. Azerbaijan, as an active member of the IPU, consistently utilizes this platform to promote its national interests and foster inter-parliamentary ties with Turkic-speaking nations and the wider international community.
