Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov has expressed his gratitude to the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) for their active participation in the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) held in Baku.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the Prime Minister made these remarks during a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government held in Ashgabat today. "I would like to note that today the 13th session of the World Urban Forum, one of the largest international platforms dedicated to sustainable development, urbanization, and improving the quality of life, concludes in Baku," Ali Asadov stated.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the forum, held under the auspices of the United Nations, brought together a record number of over 40,000 participants from 182 countries. The discussions focused on pressing global challenges, including the housing crisis, sustainable urban development, climate resilience, and post-crisis recovery. "Taking this opportunity, I would like to express my gratitude to the representatives of the CIS member states for their active participation in the work of the World Urban Forum," he added.
The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations in 2001, is the premier global conference on sustainable urbanization. Hosting WUF13 in Baku underscores Azerbaijan's growing role as a hub for international diplomacy and its commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The event serves as a critical platform for policymakers, urban planners, and civil society to share innovative solutions for the rapidly evolving urban landscape of the 21st century.
