A 6.7-magnitude earthquake struck Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, on June 16, resulting in one fatality and leaving 76 people injured.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited reports from the Indonesian news agency Antara and the Regional Agency for Disaster Management, the casualties include 13 individuals who sustained serious injuries and 63 who suffered minor injuries.

The seismic event caused widespread structural damage across the region. Official reports indicate that 841 homes, two office buildings, and 15 other structures were damaged. Additionally, a bridge connecting two villages was impacted, complicating local transportation and relief efforts.

Indonesia, an archipelago nation situated along the Pacific Ring of Fire, is frequently prone to seismic and volcanic activity. The region's complex tectonic setting, where several major plates converge, makes it highly susceptible to earthquakes, necessitating robust disaster management protocols and infrastructure resilience strategies to mitigate the impact of such natural disasters.
