The application of traffic fines via surveillance cameras should be temporarily suspended on roads where infrastructure remains incomplete. This proposal was put forward by Naqif Hamzayev, a member of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly), during the first session of the parliament's extraordinary meeting, reports the Operative Information Center-OMM.

During his address, the MP emphasized the socio-economic impact of traffic penalties on professional drivers, noting that the loss of driving privileges often results in the loss of employment, income, and the financial stability of families. "I propose increasing the threshold for license suspension from 20 points to 40-50 points, and applying point deductions only in cases of severe violations. In the worst-case scenario, I believe that for minor, first-time offenses, a fine alone should be sufficient," Hamzayev stated.

Furthermore, the MP highlighted that traffic regulations can only be applied fairly when clear, visible, and standardized marking systems are in place. He specifically called for improvements in road marking quality in Ganja and other regions outside the capital. "There are very serious shortcomings in this area, and I request that they be addressed. Additionally, an inventory of damaged, erased, or invisible traffic signs must be conducted, and timely updates must be brought under control," he added.

The Milli Majlis (National Assembly) serves as the legislative body of the Republic of Azerbaijan, responsible for debating and passing laws that govern various sectors, including transportation and road safety. Discussions regarding traffic fine structures often reflect broader efforts by the government to balance road safety enforcement with the practical needs of citizens and professional drivers across the country.
