The Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia has officially forwarded the criminal case against Tiran Khachatryan, the former first deputy chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, to the court for trial.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing reports from foreign media, the indictment has been formally approved and submitted to the relevant judicial authority.
The legal proceedings against Khachatryan are based on charges under Article 297, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, which pertains to hooliganism. The Prosecutor General's Office confirmed that all investigative materials have been transferred, and the case has now entered the judicial review phase.
Tiran Khachatryan is a prominent figure in the Armenian military establishment, having served in high-ranking positions during the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020. His dismissal from the military and subsequent legal troubles reflect ongoing internal shifts within the Armenian defense sector following the conflict and the subsequent geopolitical realignment in the South Caucasus region.
