A severe storm accompanied by powerful winds has struck the eastern part of China's Hubei province, resulting in 11 fatalities and leaving one person missing, according to local authorities.

As reported by Operative Information Center-OMM, citing statements from provincial officials relayed by the Xinhua news agency, the extreme weather event has caused significant destruction. Authorities confirmed that 22 buildings have collapsed, while an additional 4,855 structures sustained varying degrees of damage. The disaster has impacted 331 local residents, prompting the initiation of large-scale search, rescue, and humanitarian operations in the affected areas.

Hubei province, located in central China, is frequently subject to volatile weather patterns, particularly during seasonal transitions. The region's geography, characterized by complex river systems and mountainous terrain, often exacerbates the impact of severe storms, making infrastructure resilience a critical priority for local disaster management agencies. Emergency services remain on high alert as recovery efforts continue.
