The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was confirmed by the Xinhua news agency, citing data from the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).
According to the CENC, the epicenter of the seismic activity was located at a depth of 6 kilometers. As of the latest reports, there have been no immediate announcements regarding casualties or significant structural damage in the affected areas.
Sichuan province, located in a seismically active region of China, frequently experiences earthquakes due to its proximity to the Longmenshan fault zone.
