The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a formal call for the United States and Iran to cease military operations in the Middle East following a series of reciprocal missile strikes. The appeal underscores Beijing's growing concern over the potential for regional escalation.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Al Jazeera, the statement was delivered by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian during a press conference in Beijing.
"China firmly urges the relevant parties to immediately cease military operations, return to dialogue and negotiations, respond to mediation efforts, and achieve a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire as soon as possible," Lin Jian stated.
This diplomatic intervention reflects China's broader strategy of positioning itself as a neutral mediator in global conflicts. Historically, Beijing has sought to maintain balanced relations with both Washington and Tehran, leveraging its economic influence to advocate for stability in the Middle East, a region critical to China's energy security and the Belt and Road Initiative.
