Çin Afrikada Ebola epidemiyası ilə bağlı rəsmi xəbərdarlıq yaydı

The People's Republic of China is closely monitoring the Ebola outbreak spreading across Africa, particularly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda.

The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Guo Jiakun provided details on the situation during a press briefing. The spokesperson emphasized that Beijing is paying special attention to the epidemiological developments in the region and has recommended that Chinese citizens residing in Africa strengthen precautionary measures.

According to the diplomat, no cases of infection have been recorded among Chinese citizens currently in the affected regions. Health authorities in the Democratic Republic of the Congo first received signals regarding a new Ebola cluster in Ituri province on May 5. The pathogen was subsequently identified as the Ebola-Bundibugyo virus, leading to official epidemic declarations in both the DRC and Uganda. The World Health Organization (WHO) designated the situation as a global public health emergency on May 17.

The Ebola virus, first discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River in what is now the DRC, is a severe and often fatal illness in humans. It is transmitted to people from wild animals and spreads through human-to-human transmission via direct contact with infected bodily fluids. International health organizations and major global powers like China often implement strict monitoring and travel advisories during such outbreaks to prevent the transcontinental spread of the virus, which has historically caused significant mortality rates in Sub-Saharan Africa.
