Chinese Premier Li Qiang hosted Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Hangzhou, the capital of eastern Zhejiang province, on Thursday for talks focused on trade and economic cooperation, according to state-run Xinhua news agency.
Li said China was ready to deepen economic cooperation with Malaysia, advance Belt and Road projects such as the East Coast Rail Link, increase trade and connectivity, and expand collaboration in emerging industries.
“China is willing to work with Malaysia to promote the in-depth and substantive development of a high-level strategic community with a shared future to better benefit the people of both countries,” Li said.
Infrastructure and artificial intelligence
Anwar expressed Malaysia’s willingness to deepen practical cooperation with China in areas including infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
He said Kuala Lumpur attaches “great importance” to its comprehensive strategic partnership with Beijing.
“Malaysia is willing to join hands with China to make greater contributions to regional and world peace and development,” Anwar said.
