Unfortunately, Azerbaijani citizens sometimes participate in military conflicts occurring in other countries, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Foreign Minister made these remarks during a press briefing in Baku held alongside Ayman Safadi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Jordan.
"This involvement is often facilitated through various promises and methods. I once again appeal to Azerbaijani citizens: such actions are considered a crime in Azerbaijan and constitute a violation of the law. Engaging in these activities can even result in the revocation of Azerbaijani citizenship," the minister emphasized.
The recruitment of foreign fighters and mercenaries into conflict zones remains a significant concern for international security. Under Azerbaijani legislation, participation in armed conflicts abroad is strictly prohibited and carries severe legal consequences, including criminal prosecution and the potential loss of citizenship, reflecting the state's commitment to maintaining national security and adhering to international legal norms regarding non-interference in foreign conflicts.
