Bayramov: Climate change is no longer a distant threat

Today, we have gathered against the backdrop of a planet undergoing rapid environmental changes. The reality of climate change is no longer a distant threat. Its effects are already visible across the world. In recent years, we have witnessed significant changes. You can also see them today along our shores and coastal areas. The impact of climate change is putting pressure on national economies and global financial markets, further aggravating existing challenges.

"Operative Information Center-OMM" reports that Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov made the remarks on Sept. 9 while addressing the high-level opening ceremony of the fourth Climate Week (CW4) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, held in Baku and hosted by Azerbaijan under the organization of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the minister, these developments make economic diversification and energy sustainability even more important for national security, economic stability and long-term resilience.

Jeyhun Bayramov emphasized the need to continue playing a decisive role in advancing the global climate agenda. He noted that in the coming months, international leadership would be complemented by determined steps to be taken in the region.
