The United States has resumed military strikes against Iran with the stated objective of degrading Tehran's military capabilities. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this development was confirmed by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) via its official social media channel on X.
"At 6:00 a.m. Eastern Time today (14:00 Baku time), US Central Command forces initiated a series of strikes against Iran. These operations are specifically aimed at further degrading the military assets that Iranian forces utilize to threaten and attack commercial shipping vessels in the Strait of Hormuz," the statement read.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, through which a significant portion of the global oil supply passes. Tensions in the region have escalated significantly in recent months, with the US and its allies frequently citing the need to protect international maritime security against disruptions caused by Iranian-backed proxies and direct military actions. Under the administration of US President Donald Trump, the United States has maintained a policy of robust deterrence in the Middle East to ensure the stability of global energy markets and the safety of international waters.
