Intensive rainfall in Baku has led to flooding in several areas of the capital, prompting municipal services to take urgent action.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the Baku City Executive Power, the city administration, district executive authorities, and relevant utility structures have been operating in an enhanced work regime since the early hours of the morning.

Official statements indicate that the volume of rainfall throughout the day significantly exceeded seasonal norms, leading to the overloading of the city's collector systems. This surge has resulted in temporary difficulties in water drainage across various parts of the capital. Monitoring groups are currently identifying the affected zones and coordinating with the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency to expedite the drainage process.

Baku, located on the Absheron Peninsula, frequently faces challenges with rapid rainwater runoff during intense seasonal storms due to its unique geographical layout and expanding urban infrastructure. The Cabinet of Ministers and municipal authorities have recently prioritized the modernization of the capital's drainage and sewage systems to better manage extreme weather events and ensure the safety and mobility of residents in Azerbaijan's capital.
