A potential blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by the United States could lead to increased casualties among American military personnel, according to reports citing an analysis by CNN.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that maintaining a blockade would require significant military resources from Washington. This situation places US personnel at heightened risk, as previous operations against Iran have primarily been conducted through aerial strikes. Given Iran's warnings of retaliatory strikes using drones and fast-attack boats against American vessels, the risk of fatalities among service members has significantly increased.

The escalation follows the commencement of military operations by the US and Israel against Iran on February 28, which targeted major cities, including Tehran. In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a large-scale operation against Israel. The Iranian leadership has also moved to close the Strait of Hormuz to vessels belonging to the US, Israel, and their supporting allies. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints, through which approximately one-fifth of the world's daily oil supply passes, making its stability vital to global energy markets.
