President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan made a phone call to his Azerbaijani counterpart, President Ilham Aliyev, on March 5.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Press Service of the President of Azerbaijan, that the leaders discussed regional security and mutual support against external threats.
During the conversation, the UAE President condemned the recent attacks on Azerbaijan's territory involving Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and expressed his wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured during the incident. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also reiterated his gratitude to the head of state for the support shown by Azerbaijan to the UAE following missile attacks on his country, noting the importance of Baku's firm stance in condemning such aggression.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the phone call and reaffirmed Azerbaijan's unwavering position. The head of state once again condemned the missile and drone attacks against the UAE, emphasizing that Azerbaijan stands firmly with the United Arab Emirates, as previously highlighted during their telephone conversation on February 28. The leaders also exchanged views on various issues of mutual interest and the further strengthening of bilateral ties.
The diplomatic relationship between Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates has seen significant growth in recent years, characterized by high-level official visits and expanding cooperation in the energy, tourism, and security sectors. Both nations maintain a shared commitment to regional stability and have frequently coordinated their positions within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
