Bayramov: Azərbaycan “Vahid Çin” prinsipinə tam sadiqdir və Tayvanın müstəqilliyini tanımır

Azerbaijan unequivocally supports the "One China" principle and does not recognize the independence of Taiwan, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov stated.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Jeyhun Bayramov made these remarks during an interview with China's Global Times. The minister emphasized that Azerbaijan's stance on the Taiwan issue is clear, consistent, and rooted in the fundamental principles of international law. He noted that Azerbaijan was among the first countries to condemn the so-called elections held in Taiwan in January 2024.

"Azerbaijan does not recognize Taiwan's independence and resolutely supports the 'One China' principle," Jeyhun Bayramov stressed. He added that attempts to alter the status quo through provocations, unilateral actions, or foreign interference increase the risk of confrontation in the region and undermine trust in international relations.

The minister further highlighted that Azerbaijan's support for China on the Taiwan issue reflects not only adherence to international legal norms but also the principle of sovereign equality of states. This position underscores the mutual trust forming the foundation of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Baku and Beijing. Relations between the two nations have reached a new level following the adoption of the "Joint Declaration on the Establishment of a Strategic Partnership" in July 2024, which aims to deepen cooperation across political, economic, and security spheres while respecting each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty.
