Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže is scheduled to pay a working visit to Yerevan, Armenia, from May 6 to 7, where she will hold high-level discussions regarding regional security and the peace process with Azerbaijan.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), Braže is slated to meet with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan to discuss the current state of bilateral relations between the two nations.
"The meeting will also cover cooperation between the European Union and Armenia, the key outcomes of the first EU-Armenia summit held on May 5, as well as pressing topics on the regional and international agenda. This includes the Armenia-Azerbaijan peace process, and the situations in Ukraine and the Middle East," the MFA statement noted. Additionally, Braže is expected to participate in the "Yerevan Dialogue - 2026" conference during her stay.
The visit comes at a significant time as Azerbaijan continues to advocate for a sustainable peace agreement based on the principles of territorial integrity and international law. Latvia, as a member of both the European Union and NATO, has frequently expressed support for diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring long-term stability in the South Caucasus. This diplomatic mission follows a series of international efforts to facilitate direct dialogue between Baku and Yerevan to finalize a comprehensive peace treaty.
