The total length of bicycle lanes in Baku has reached 66.6 kilometers, according to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
The expansion of micromobility infrastructure has led to a significant increase in usage. In June of this year, bicycle and scooter rentals reached a record 468,751 orders. During the same period, the number of unique users totaled 238,351, with a combined distance of 1,009,172 kilometers covered by these transport modes.
Efforts to develop micromobility infrastructure in Baku are ongoing, with the primary goal of ensuring the sustainability of the network while enhancing the safety and comfort of road users. Authorities are systematically connecting existing bicycle lanes to create a continuous, integrated network across the city.
This initiative aligns with the "State Program for the Improvement of Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025–2030," which outlines plans to extend the total length of micromobility lanes to 100 kilometers. By promoting alternative transport, the government aims to reduce traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions in the capital.
