Traffic congestion reported in 21 directions in Baku

Significant traffic congestion is currently being observed across several major roads and avenues in Baku, causing delays for commuters during peak hours.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Intellectual Transport Management Center (NIIM) has identified 21 specific directions where vehicle movement is restricted:

  • Baku-Sumgait highway, towards the Khirdalan circle;
  • Baku-Sumgait highway, towards the 20 Yanvar metro station;
  • Ali Mustafayev Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Ahmad Rajabli Street to the intersection with Ataturk Avenue;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street towards the 20 Yanvar metro station;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the Baku Olympic Stadium towards the 20 Yanvar metro station;
  • Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Abdulvahab Salamzade Street towards Ahmad Rajabli Street;
  • Tbilisi Avenue, from the intersection with Izmir Street towards the 20 Yanvar metro station;
  • Tbilisi Avenue, from the 20 Yanvar metro station towards the city center;
  • Bakikhanov Street, from the intersection with Inshaatchilar Avenue towards Dada Gorgud Park;
  • Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, towards the city center;
  • Heydar Aliyev Avenue, auxiliary road, towards the city center;
  • Binagadi highway, from Azadlig Prospekti metro station towards Binagadi settlement;
  • Khatai Avenue, towards Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
  • Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadlig Avenue;
  • Yusif Safarov Street, towards the city center;
  • Yusif Safarov Street, towards Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
  • 8 Noyabr Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street towards the Zigh highway;
  • Mikayil Mushfig Street, from the Badamdar circle towards School-Lyceum No. 20;
  • Denizkenari Street, from the Flag Square towards the Azneft circle;
  • Mahammad Hadi Street, towards the Ukraine circle.

The Intellectual Transport Management Center (NIIM) monitors traffic flow in Azerbaijan's capital using a network of cameras and sensors to provide real-time updates to the public. Such congestion is typical during morning and evening rush hours in Baku, as the city continues to expand its infrastructure to accommodate an increasing number of vehicles. Authorities advise drivers to use alternative routes where possible to avoid significant delays in the mentioned directions.
