Traffic congestion reported on 14 major roads in Baku

Heavy traffic congestion has been reported on several major roads and avenues in the capital of Azerbaijan, causing significant delays for commuters.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC) has released an official statement regarding the current traffic density across the city's transport network.

According to the ITMC, traffic congestion is currently observed in the following 14 directions:

  • 1. Heydar Aliyev Avenue, main road, towards the city center;
  • 2. Binagadi highway, towards "Azadliq Prospekti" metro station;
  • 3. Baku-Sumgait highway, towards "20 January" metro station;
  • 4. Koroglu Rahimov Street, from the intersection with Ak. Hasan Aliyev Street towards Heydar Aliyev Avenue;
  • 5. Tbilisi Avenue, from the intersection with Izmir Street towards "20 January" metro station;
  • 6. Tbilisi Avenue, from "20 January" metro station towards the city center;
  • 7. Ali Mustafayev Street, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • 8. Ziya Bunyadov Avenue, from the intersection with Muzaffar Narimanov Street towards "20 January" metro station;
  • 9. Yusif Safarov Street, towards the city center;
  • 10. Uzeyir Hajibeyli Street, up to the intersection with Azadliq Avenue;
  • 11. 1st Gol Kenari road, towards Ziya Bunyadov Avenue;
  • 12. Rashid Behbudov Street, towards the Central Bank;
  • 13. 8 November Avenue, from the intersection with Suleyman Ahmadov Street towards the city center;
  • 14. Niyazi Street, towards the "Azneft" circle.

Traffic management in Baku is overseen by the Intelligent Transport Management Center, which utilizes advanced monitoring systems to regulate vehicle flow and minimize bottlenecks in the capital. Such congestion is typical during peak hours in Baku, as the city continues to expand its infrastructure to accommodate increasing vehicle numbers. Authorities advise drivers to use alternative routes where possible to avoid prolonged delays.
