A weather warning has been issued for Baku, the Absheron Peninsula, and several other regions in Azerbaijan due to expected strong winds from September 7 through the morning of September 8. Both yellow and orange alerts have been declared in response to the forecasted meteorological conditions.

According to the service, an orange alert is in effect for Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, as well as Aghstafa, Gazakh, Tovuz, Shamkir, Samux, Ganja, Dashkasan, Goranboy, Naftalan, Mingachevir, Yevlax, Barda, Tartar, Aghdam, Balakan, Zagatala, Gakh, Shaki, Oghuz, Gabala, Goychay, Ujar, Gusar, Khachmaz, Shabran, Siyazan, Khizi, Gobustan, Hajigabul, and Neftchala. In these areas, north-westerly winds are expected to intensify, reaching speeds between 20.8 and 28.4 meters per second.
Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for Gadabay, Goygol, Sharur, Sadarak, Guba, Salyan, Shirvan, Sabirabad, Saatli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Kalbajar, Lachin, Fuzuli, Beylagan, Imishli, Kurdamir, Aghsu, Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Zardab, Aghdash, Aghjabadi, and Khojavand. In these districts, north-westerly winds are expected to reach speeds of 13.9 to 20.7 meters per second.
The National Hydrometeorological Service advises residents to take necessary precautions during these high-wind events, which are common in the region during seasonal transitions. Such weather patterns can impact transportation, power infrastructure, and outdoor activities, necessitating heightened vigilance from both local authorities and the public.
