Bakı Limanı: Dövlət rəsmiləri görülən işlərlə tanış olub

A meeting was held at the Baku International Sea Trade Port with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the State Customs Committee, the State Border Service, and Azerbaijan Railways (ADY) CJSC.

This was reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM by ADY.

During the meeting, participants reviewed joint operations between the port, customs authorities, and border services. Discussions focused on the optimization of operations, achievements to date, and strategic measures planned for the future. Both ADY and the State Customs Committee delivered presentations, exchanging views on the prospects for further developing their existing cooperation.

The meeting also highlighted the operational performance of the Baku Port. It was reported that 3 million 237 thousand tons of cargo were handled through the port from January to May 2026. In May alone, cargo turnover increased by 10.6% compared to the same period last year, reaching 812 thousand tons. Furthermore, 50,050 TEU containers were processed during the first five months of the year, an 8.4% increase over the previous year's figures.

Officials were also briefed on recent modernization efforts at the Baku Port. Last month, the 7th berth was put into active operation for the first time in the port's history, and a new-generation crane with a lifting capacity of 125 tons was commissioned.

The parties emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to further improve logistics and transport processes, enhance operational efficiency, and expand inter-agency cooperation. It was noted that coordinated activities with the State Customs Committee, the State Border Service, and other relevant agencies are ongoing to streamline operations. These joint measures have already yielded significant results in optimizing the clearance and inspection processes for cargo and vehicles, as well as reducing service times. Additionally, efforts are underway to automate cargo handling and streamline management processes through the implementation of digital solutions and AI-based tools.

Participants toured the port area to inspect the infrastructure. They also visited the Unified Transition Center, which was launched last year in partnership with the State Border Service, the State Customs Committee, and the State Migration Service. During the visit, officials spoke with center staff and provided additional instructions to ensure that documentation processes are organized as efficiently and seamlessly as possible.

The Baku International Sea Trade Port, located in the Alat settlement, serves as a critical hub in the Middle Corridor, connecting the Caspian Sea region with international markets. Its ongoing modernization is a strategic priority for Azerbaijan to bolster its transit potential.
