Azerbaijan imported goods worth $960 from Armenia in March of this year, marking a rare instance of direct commercial activity between the two countries. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing data from the State Customs Committee, this represents the first recorded import from Yerevan in recent official statistics.

In addition to the import figures, the report highlighted that Azerbaijan exported products valued at $5.757 million to Armenia during the first quarter of the year. Of this total, $1.537 million worth of exports were recorded specifically in March. Revenue generated from exports to Armenia accounted for approximately 0.1% of Azerbaijan's total export earnings for the period.

The emergence of these trade figures comes amid ongoing regional efforts to normalize relations and restore transport and economic links in the South Caucasus. Historically, direct trade between Azerbaijan and Armenia was suspended for decades due to the former occupation of Azerbaijani territories. Following the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and the liberation of the Garabagh region, the opening of regional communications has become a key point of discussion in peace negotiations, aimed at fostering economic stability and integration across the region.
