Azerbaijan releases state budget performance report for January-May

During the first five months of this year, treasury authorities in Azerbaijan executed over 501,000 payment orders, marking an 8.9% decrease compared to the same period last year.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, which cited data from the Ministry of Finance, the consolidated budget revenues for this five-month period reached 19.8653 billion manats, while expenditures totaled 15.6115 billion manats.

The report specifies that the state budget revenues amounted to 16.3657 billion manats, representing a 4.5% decrease year-on-year, though exceeding forecasts by 1.6%. State budget expenditures totaled 13.3752 billion manats, which is 2.3% lower than the previous year and 3.4% below the projected forecast.

Consequently, the consolidated budget recorded a surplus of 4.2538 billion manats, while the state budget surplus stood at 2.9905 billion manats, reflecting a 13.2% decrease compared to the previous year.

During the reporting period, revenue streams included 7.8253 billion manats from the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy (0.2% decrease year-on-year, 1.7% above forecast) and 2.534 billion manats from the State Customs Committee (2.1% decrease year-on-year, 0.4% above forecast). Transfers from the State Oil Fund (SOFAZ) amounted to 5.35 billion manats, meeting 100% of the forecast.

The state budget of Azerbaijan serves as the primary financial instrument for the country's socio-economic development. It is formulated annually to prioritize strategic infrastructure projects, social welfare programs, and the ongoing restoration and reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories of Garabagh and East Zangezur.
