Azerbaijan has officially approved the National Action Plan for 2026–2030 to combat human trafficking. According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree to formalize this strategic initiative.

The primary objective of the decree is to ensure the continuity of measures taken against human trafficking, improve the regulatory legal framework and institutional mechanisms, increase the efficiency of cooperation between state agencies, and fulfill Azerbaijan's international obligations in this critical area.

Under the new directive, the Cabinet of Ministers is tasked with resolving issues arising from the decree. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) is designated as the coordinating body for the implementation of the measures outlined in the National Action Plan and is required to report on the progress to the President of Azerbaijan annually. Furthermore, the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication will conduct monitoring and evaluation of the plan's implementation based on requests from the MIA.

This initiative represents a significant step in Azerbaijan's ongoing commitment to human rights and public safety. By establishing a multi-year framework, the government aims to modernize its approach to crime prevention, aligning national policies with international standards and strengthening the protection of vulnerable populations against exploitation.
