Unstable weather conditions are expected across Azerbaijan during the final days of the first decade of May, with heavy rain, lightning, and hail forecast for several regions. In Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, intermittent rain is expected on the morning and afternoon of May 8, with the possibility of brief intensification in certain areas of the peninsula.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the National Hydrometeorological Service reported that precipitation will continue in various regions on May 8, while on May 9-10, rainfall is primarily expected in mountainous and foothill areas during the daytime. Officials warned of potential lightning, hail, and snow in high-altitude regions, noting that water levels in rivers are likely to rise, potentially leading to short-term flash floods in some mountain streams.

The National Hydrometeorological Service of Azerbaijan regularly monitors atmospheric conditions to provide early warnings for extreme weather events, which are common during the seasonal transition in May. Such warnings are essential for the country's agricultural sector and civil defense, particularly in mountainous zones where rapid rainfall can significantly impact local infrastructure and river systems. The service advises citizens and relevant authorities to remain cautious during the period of unstable weather.
