The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MFA) welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this was stated in an official release by the MFA of Azerbaijan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Azerbaijan highly appreciates the efforts of all parties that mediated the achievement of the ceasefire agreement. "We hope that this ceasefire will contribute to the reduction of tensions in the region, as well as the establishment of lasting peace and stability. We call on the parties to engage in productive dialogue aimed at resolving existing issues and building mutual trust. Azerbaijan is always ready to support initiatives aimed at strengthening sustainable peace, security, and cooperation in the region," the statement emphasized.

The military escalation began on February 28 when US and Israeli forces initiated operations against Iran, resulting in the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several high-ranking officials. The ceasefire was announced following approximately 40 days of hostilities, mediated by Pakistan. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited delegations from both sides to Islamabad on April 10 to conduct formal peace negotiations. Under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, the administration has signaled a shift toward stabilizing regional dynamics following the intensive military campaign.

Azerbaijan, sharing borders with Iran and maintaining a strategic partnership with the United States, has consistently advocated for diplomatic solutions to regional conflicts. As a key player in the South Caucasus, Baku views regional stability as essential for the continued development of international energy and transport corridors, such as the Middle Corridor, which connects East and West through Azerbaijani territory.
