The Azerbaijan national gastronomy team has achieved a significant milestone by winning a bronze medal at the 1st International Chefs Championship - "Alimentaria 2026" held in Barcelona, Spain.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Azerbaijan was represented by a national team formed by the Azerbaijan Culinary Specialists Association with the support of the State Tourism Agency.

According to the competition format, participants were required to prepare two courses: a starter and a main dish. The performances of the competing teams were evaluated by an international jury based on strictly defined professional criteria, including technique, presentation, and taste profile.

The championship featured high-level competition from teams representing Spain, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, and Romania. The judging panel consisted of international culinary experts from various countries, ensuring a global standard of evaluation. Supported by the World Association of Chefs' Societies ("WorldChefs"), the championship took place within the framework of the international "Alimentaria" food exhibition, which is considered a prestigious platform bringing together leading representatives of the global gastronomy industry.

The promotion of Azerbaijani cuisine on international platforms remains a key priority for the country's tourism strategy. By participating in such high-caliber events, Azerbaijan continues to showcase its rich culinary heritage and the professional skills of its modern chefs to a global audience. The "Alimentaria" exhibition in Barcelona is one of the world's largest food and beverage trade shows, serving as a vital hub for innovation and international gastronomic exchange.
