Azərbaycan “Metrik Konvensiya”ya qoşulub

Azerbaijan has officially joined the Metre Convention, a significant step toward aligning the nation's metrological standards with global practices. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that President Ilham Aliyev has signed the law approving the country's accession to the agreement.

The legislation formalizes the Republic of Azerbaijan's participation in the Metre Convention, which was originally signed in Paris on May 20, 1875. This move ensures that Azerbaijan's national measurement standards are recognized internationally, facilitating smoother trade, scientific cooperation, and industrial compatibility.

The Metre Convention is the foundational treaty that established the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM). By joining this intergovernmental organization, member states commit to maintaining the uniformity of measurements worldwide. For Azerbaijan, this integration is expected to enhance the competitiveness of local products in international markets and strengthen the country's scientific infrastructure by adopting the International System of Units (SI) more rigorously.
