Azerbaijan is set to develop new vocational education programs tailored to the requirements of the labor market across priority economic sectors. This initiative aims to bridge the skills gap and align educational outcomes with the evolving needs of the national economy.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, this directive is outlined in the "Action Plan for the Implementation of the Employment Strategy for 2026–2030," which was approved by President Ilham Aliyev. The strategic document emphasizes the necessity of modernizing vocational training to ensure a highly skilled workforce.

The primary objective of this initiative is to identify opportunities to integrate international certification programs into existing vocational curricula, ensuring that graduates possess qualifications recognized both domestically and globally. The implementation of this program has been officially assigned to the Ministry of Science and Education.

Vocational education plays a critical role in Azerbaijan's economic diversification strategy. By aligning educational standards with international benchmarks, the government seeks to enhance the competitiveness of the local workforce, particularly in non-oil sectors, and support sustainable economic growth in the coming years.
