Baku hosted the second meeting of the Cooperation Committee on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The session was co-chaired by Azerbaijan's Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev and the UAE Minister of State Saeed Al Hajeri.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) via the Operative Information Center-OMM, the meeting included a private discussion between the co-chairs followed by an expanded session with ambassadors and representatives from various state agencies. The parties reviewed the progress made since the inaugural meeting held in Abu Dhabi last November, evaluating the implementation of agreed-upon roadmaps and work plans. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the results achieved thus far and emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation focused on tangible outcomes.
The meeting saw broad participation from Azerbaijani institutions, including the Ministries of Economy, Energy, Justice, Defense, Internal Affairs, Digital Development and Transport, Science and Education, Culture, and Agriculture. Representatives from the State Tourism Agency, Food Safety Agency, SOCAR, Azerbaijan Investment Holding, and AZCON Holding also attended. The discussions emphasized strengthening the institutional foundations of cooperation and launching new joint initiatives in priority sectors, including digital transformation and food security.
Relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE have seen significant growth in recent years, particularly in the renewable energy and investment sectors. Major projects, such as the Masdar-led solar power initiatives in Azerbaijan, underscore the deepening economic ties between the two countries. This strategic partnership committee serves as a vital platform for aligning the economic diversification goals of both nations and fostering long-term investment opportunities in the region.
