On July 7, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting with US Senator Steve Daines, a member of the US Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, who is currently visiting Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported to the Operative Information Center-OMM that the discussions focused on the current state and development prospects of the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the US. The parties exchanged views on the political and economic cooperation agenda, energy security, regional connectivity projects, and other matters of mutual interest.
Both sides emphasized the importance of high-level contacts and political dialogue in expanding mutually beneficial cooperation. Discussions also highlighted Azerbaijan's growing role as a reliable partner in energy security, transport, and logistics, with a particular focus on the development of the Middle Corridor and East-West transport routes.
During the discussion on regional connectivity, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov noted the dynamic development of Azerbaijan's cooperation with Central Asian nations, specifically highlighting the new opportunities within the C6 cooperation format. It was emphasized that through the strengthening of East-West connections across the Caspian Sea and the development of logistics and industrial infrastructure around the Baku International Sea Trade Port, Azerbaijan has become a key transport and trade hub in Eurasia.
The officials also reviewed the post-conflict situation in the South Caucasus, the normalization process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the broader peace agenda. Minister Bayramov provided detailed information regarding the large-scale restoration and reconstruction efforts currently underway in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, as well as the opportunities for regional cooperation and economic integration presented by the opening of transport and communication lines in the region.
The US-Azerbaijan relationship is a cornerstone of stability in the South Caucasus. Since the restoration of Azerbaijan's independence, the two nations have maintained a robust partnership, particularly in the energy sector, where Azerbaijan plays a vital role in European energy security through the Southern Gas Corridor, and in regional security initiatives.
