A new draft law proposing amendments to the Housing Code, the Law "On the status of refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs)," and the Law "On social protection of IDPs and persons equated to them" holds significant social importance for the country.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, citing AZERTAC, this was stated by MP Azay Guliyev during a joint meeting of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) committees on Labor and Social Policy, Human Rights, and Legal Policy and State Building.
According to the MP, these legislative changes represent the restoration and establishment of the constitutional and property rights of Azerbaijani citizens at the highest level. "We are witnessing another wise and prudent approach by our state. Social measures will continue for three years after the date of the loss of IDP status. This demonstrates that the state continues to support its citizens, ensuring that alongside employment and social care measures in various fields, their status is maintained for this three-year transition period," Guliyev stated.
The Milli Majlis plays a critical role in the legislative framework of Azerbaijan, serving as the primary body for enacting laws that govern the rights and social welfare of the population. These proposed amendments reflect the ongoing efforts of the Azerbaijani government to streamline property rights and provide a robust social safety net for citizens transitioning from IDP status, ensuring their integration and long-term stability.
