Russian forces launched a drone strike on the strategic Black Sea port of Odesa in Ukraine overnight on Monday, resulting in multiple casualties and significant damage to infrastructure.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, regional governor Oleh Kiper reported on Telegram that the attack claimed the lives of three people, including one child, while 10 others sustained various injuries. Kiper noted that the strikes targeted residential buildings, critical infrastructure, and administrative facilities across the region.
The intensification of attacks on Odesa comes as the city remains a vital logistics hub for Ukraine, handling the majority of the nation's grain exports. In a related development, a strike on the Bilorychenska coal mine in the Russian-controlled Luhansk region damaged an electrical substation, leaving 41 miners trapped underground. Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 148 Ukrainian drones within a short period.
The conflict continues to impact civilian areas on both sides, with reports of a civil defense volunteer killed in Russia's Belgorod region and damage to a high-rise residential building in Novorossiysk. Additionally, power supplies were partially restored in the occupied cities of Donetsk and Makiivka following Ukrainian strikes on energy infrastructure, while four drone attacks were recorded in Sevastopol, Crimea, throughout the day.
