Anar Quliyev: Azərbaycan siyasəti dünya gündəminə uyğunlaşır

Azerbaijan is actively aligning its national urban development policies with the global agenda, focusing on inclusivity, community engagement, and sustainable growth. Speaking at the closing press conference of the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13), Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, emphasized the country's commitment to international standards in modern urban planning.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Guliyev noted that the forum saw participation from over 58,000 attendees and 400 speakers from various countries, including 60 representatives from Azerbaijan. "We have laid the foundation for future cooperation here, which is a first for the World Urban Forum. We consider contributions to the sustainable development of communities worldwide to be vital," Guliyev stated. He further highlighted the ambitious, high-level restoration projects currently underway in Azerbaijan's liberated territories, including the implementation of "smart village" concepts and the strengthening of national capacity to meet modern challenges.

The World Urban Forum, established by the United Nations in 2001, serves as the premier global platform for examining the most pressing issues facing the world today in the area of human settlements. Azerbaijan's active involvement in WUF13 underscores its strategic focus on post-conflict reconstruction in the Garabagh region, where the government is applying innovative urban solutions to ensure resilient and sustainable living conditions for returning citizens. These efforts are part of a broader national strategy to integrate Azerbaijan's urban infrastructure into the global framework of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
